EAST BRUNSWICK — Police officers captured a masked gunman Monday evening as he ran out of an East Brunswick pharmacy with stolen money and drugs, authorities said today.

Jeffrey Domanski, a 29-year-old East Brunswick man, was charged with nine counts after being captured behind the Windsor Pharmacy on Route 18, the township police department said in a statement. No one was injured during the robbery.

A customer had notified police at 7:46 p.m., running out the front door and calling 911 as the man allegedly entered through the back door and announced the robbery. The caller said the man was armed with a handgun and wearing a mask, and there were several works inside the business.

Domanski had allegedly taken an undisclosed amount of cash from a register, as well as pills that including the anti-anxiety drug Xanax and the narcotic painkiller hydrocodone. Officers also said they recovered a black Glock Model 30, a semi-automatic .45 caliber handgun, which Domanski was allegedly carrying.

He is charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft, criminal restraint, resisting arrest and three weapons possession counts. He was sent to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $250,000 bail.

The department credited officers Jeffrey Marino, Robert Zielinksi and Kimberly Rufolo with making the arrest.
